I was surprised how petulant I was not to get a place on Anthony Gormley’s plinth despite my enthusiastic application. I jumped the gun somewhat and was actually preparing my “set” before I realised that it was a possibility that I wouldnt be getting the call.
I have taken part in these historic events throughout my life in London. I realise now that what I am doing is collecting stories for my grandchildren – a collection of “I was there..” stories. So with lip full out on discovering I was not among the chosen ones, I was tempted just to turn up and say “gizza go” .By the way, I think this “emotional intelligence” thing is over rated anyway: petulance is such a lovely word.
