Delegate Evaluations for Brief Therapy Courses

I have already utilized some aspects of the training in my work, particularly The Change Balloon and Miracle Question. This has been hugely positive and has enabled children, young people and families to consider solutions for their problem/issues. The training was so much more than Solution Focused  – very engaging and truly inspiring. The content and delivery was amazing. I would highly recommend the training to my colleagues.

As a Community Employment Mentor, I workl with a range of clients and support them with their employability needs and life skills. The Solution Focused training has given me additional knowledge, skills and techniques that I an now apply during my conversations and sessions with people. It will be very useful to have these skills, particularly when clients are struggling to find answers for themselves and I often find it tempting to provide the answers for them.  Eileen was really engaging and very interesting with a huge raft of experience. The two days were really well spent.

The training has given us a new toolkit in how to support people to dig deep and thin about the resources they have within themselves to overcome their difficulties. It will change the way I talk to people in that rather than try to be “positive” and perhaps risking coming across as frivolous – I will be listening more and thinking of ways to reframe the negative terms and situation in order to draw on the person’s strengths.

The training shows you that you don’t have to keep going over the past but look at small and achievable steps that the client comes up with themselves. The training will definitely improve the way we work with people and talk with them will hopefully build resilience in the people we are supporting. Thank you for your wisdom Eileen, this is the best training I have ever done.

This training has empowered me to think, communicate and work in a strength-based and solution-focused way. Though I was aware of the effectiveness of this approach, this training has given me the confidence to fully commit to it and put it into practice. Eileen’s delivery of this training was most definitely the element that made it as beneficial as it was – she really helped us to visualize what the approach looks like in practice, not just explain the theory behind it which is what has helped me feel more confident in putting it into practice which I have done and already I can see how effective it can be! Plus, she was incredibly entertaining which really kept me engaged.

I will no take a different approach to solving a problem. I will support someone to come up with their own plan of action, that they own themselves and not feel the need to fill the silence or have the answer to someone’s problems but will wait for them to create their own actions plans. The passion and energy Eileen has for supporting individuals and to you, the Practitioner, to support individuals is just infectious. Two days of Eileen’s boundless energy to reconfigure how we think about solving problems was wholeheartedly enjoyable.

I work with children and young people and feel that some of the exercises we went through during training will be particularly helpful for young people to look at to making small changes or goals to help them move forward long term. This was probably the best training I’ve had – it kept me engaged, was really relevant to my role and wasn’t over complicated. I can see how each of the exercises and change in language will help me work with teenagers, in particular, who find it difficult to engage in support.

I was very interested in the “Reframing” and although a simple idea I see that it can make a difference. I have also used the Change Balloon. It was a great couple of days which didn’t feel like “normal training” it was very engaging.
